Lake Ilklala is a lake in the eastern Baklands. The Air Serpent and Water Serpent hide there in Sorcery! 3: The Seven Serpents to ambush the Analander.

Geography[]

The lake lies in far east of the Baklands, to the south of the settlement of Tinpang. Crossing it is the only way to reach the road to High Xamen.

Its deep waters make it hard to navigate without a boat. It contains four very small islands, but their shores are rocky and must be accessed at precise angles. It is also home to many fish, which can be caught. The Water Serpent hides itself under the water, awaiting the Analander.

Islands[]

North-West Island[]

The Sightmaster Sergeant of Analand was imprisoned here by the Archmage of Mampang. He has been forced to keep his eyes shut after they were changed to that of a Red Eye. The Analander can comfort him, but he will always give in as they leave and use his eyes to look down on himself.

North-East Island[]

In the Baklands of the past, an eccentric old woman lives on this island in a small hut, mixing potions that can help or hinder someone.

In the present day, the island is deserted save for a shrine to Yb'ran.

South-East Island[]

Contains a Beacon of Past Light in its centre. Reaching the beacon is very difficult because of the dense shrubbery surrounding it. One can find their way through with the Compass.

South-West Island[]

The Time Serpent awaits the Analander here, on an otherwise barren island. If three beacons are focused on the island, the Time Serpent will be weakened. If four beacons are focused on it, the Serpent will be killed.

Transport[]

Old Baklanders used the Ferryman to cross the lake. He can be summoned from the shores using a Whistle, charging four gold pieces to carry a passenger in his rowboat. He used to live in a hut on the north shore of the lake, but was killed by the Air Serpent who disguised itself as him to lure the Analander.

Once the Air Serpent is confronted and defeated the Analander is free to use the Ferryman's boat as their own.

One may also swim across the lake, but all soft food and water-damageable items are ruined in the water.
