Slangg is the God of Malice. He can be followed by the Analander, and can be encountered in human form in Lower Kharé.

Lore[]

Slangg does not cause harm, but wishes you ill; he does not lead you astray, but ensures the wrong decision is always within reach. He does not forgive, but reminds you constantly of your folly.

Encounter[]

Slangg can be met in the streets in Lower Kharé, near the Artist's Quarter. He will appear as a young man, who the Analander will later call 'the young liar', and will offer some confusing and rather worthless advice.

Shrine[]

Slangg's Shrine is near the Docks in Kharé. The Analander may take up the Priest there's challenge and choose a question to answer (impossible or easy). The impossible question is "What is the answer to the question that has never been asked?" Malice, silence and infinity are all wrong answers, but if the Analander used a spell to read the future of the young fortune-teller to the east to the city (with the pig poachers) you may respond 'Sirisi', upon which the god will grant one wish. Asking for riches or strength results in it backfiring awfully for the Analander- ask for part of the spell line instead, and receive the final line originally known by Moulas, who the Priest notes was a follower of Slangg.

To answer the easy question, you must convert to Slangg. This question depends on your journey so far and will always be about someone you know. The possibilities are:

  • A beast on a bridge who did riddle-thee-ree, But pray, tell me now if you can, who was he?
  • A shadowy swordsman you can barely see, But pray, tell me now if you can, who is he?
  • A woman with magic whom you had to free, But pray, tell me now if you can, who was she?
  • A self-declared killer roaming quite free, But pray, tell me now if you can, who is he?
  • A man of great business, Kharé's power indeed But pray, tell me now if you can, who is he?
  • A young boy a-sudden to scarper did he, But pray, tell me now if you can, who is he?

The answers to each are Vancass, Flanker, Alianna, Vangorn, Vik and Lasen respectively.

In the alleys of eastern Mampang, several Red-Eyes who worship Slangg may confront the Analander. They will kill them unless they first claim to be from Kharé originally, then admit that they do not know the name of the Priest of Slangg; it seems nobody does. After successfully fooling the Red-Eyes, the Analander may move on.

Gameplay[]

Every prayer to Slangg will permanently decrease your skill by 1 point. However, he is hard to displease and you cannot lose him through your actions. If you please him, he will increase your skill permanently (only if it is below ten) or heal you by one point.

Despite the fact that Slangg is the God of Malice, there is a limit to the level of malice that pleases him. Firstly, Slangg is no different from most other gods except Courga when it comes to the Analander murdering (i.e.: generally apathetic). Secondly, Sorcery! 4 could have a scene where Slangg himself thinks is too excessive in cruelty and also warns the Analander about Naggamenteh.
